Call for expressions of interest!

Applications for workshops now open. The deadline is 5pm on 12th June.

Are you interested in contributing to SOCIAL WORK LIVE - Practice & Careers 2026 - the BASW UK Conference 2026?

Apply here

The theme for this year is What works in social work: Real Practice, Real Impact. This is an opportunity to showcase your work, reflect on learning, and support professional development across the sector by facilitating engaging workshops that will cover the following three key themes:

  1. Practice focus: We are inviting expressions of interest from social workers, social care organisations including statutory LA, NHS and the VCSE sector to contribute workshop sessions focused on sharing effective, ethical, innovative social work practice, drawing upon practice evidence and experience.
  2. Researchers and academic focus: We are inviting expressions of interest with a specific focus on sharing research related to social work and the communities we work with.  We are also interested in supporting workshops that have a focus on social work education including practice placement and post qualification.
  3. Activism and rights-based practice: We are inviting expressions of interest with a specific focus on social work that actively challenges inequalities, discrimination and promotes the rights of individuals or marginalised communities. We are keen to hear examples of good practice with real change and impact centred.

Purpose

The workshops will provide a space to:

  • Share examples of impactful, evidence based practice
  • Highlight innovative approaches, tools, or models
  • Reflect on lessons learned, including challenges and successes
  • Promote collaborative learning and knowledge exchange

We are particularly interested in interactive sessions that:

  • Encourage participation and discussion
  • Include case examples or real-world practice insights
  • Offer practical tools, frameworks, or transferable learning

The deadline for applications is 5pm on 12th June.
