About this event

To mark the UN day of older people, BASW’s special interest group on Social Work and Ageing invites you to this upcoming event.

We will present learning from research, practice and lived experience on how social workers uphold rights in later life. We will focus on social work’s role in empowering people who face barriers. There will be time for reflection and discussion on the positive difference social workers make.

📢 Speakers:

Joe Webb, University of Bristol, on good conversations with people with dementia.

Mandy-Jayne Lace, Final year social work student, on intersectional experiences moving into care homes.

David Hearnden and Gerry Nosowska, Co-Chairs of the special interest group, on the role of social workers in care home admissions

Graham Price, Expert by Experience and special interest group poet
