Heathrow Travel Care: Supporting Through Crisis: The vital role of social work and emergency planning form the team based at Heathrow Airport

BASW England Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Branch Event

Join students and social workers from across the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire region for this unique seminar and CPD event.

You are invited to an exclusive event to meet the dedicated team behind Heathrow Travel Care: a team of social workers and an emergency planning manager based at Heathrow Airport.

The service they provide is crucial in supporting vulnerable people from around the world, addressing issues such as homelessness, mental health concerns, victim support, repatriations, and safeguarding during humanitarian crises.

This is a unique opportunity to learn about the vital work of social work in this area and to explore potential collaborations in supporting vulnerable individuals in crisis situations.

Speakers:

Anoop Kataria has been a Social Worker at Heathrow Travel Care for over 7 years and has extensive experience in both Adult and Children’s services and works part-time as a Social Care worker for a London Council. Anoop has a background in working for an airline and coordinating responses to humanitarian crises.

James Davies has worked at Heathrow Airport for over 14 years and has served as the Emergency Planning Manager at Heathrow Travel Care for the last 6 years. He has led responses to emergencies including the Ukraine conflict and Afghanistan repatriations. Additionally, James has managed the UK’s only Young Person’s Adviser Project at an airport and is experienced in British Sign Language and Counselling Supervision.

This event will support networking and practitioner wellbeing.

It is a hybrid branch event open to students, social workers, BASW members and non-members studying, living, or working in the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire area.

Start: 6PM for in person & 6:30PM for online

End: 8PM.
