Would you like to gain a deeper understanding of poverty and its relevance to public protection in Scotland? This course is designed to strengthen our understanding of the relationship between poverty and child and adult protection and consider how our framing of poverty can contribute to a deficits based model of practice. 

Learning Outcomes 

• To consider how poverty can impact parenting capacity and the capacity to fulfil caring responsibilities 

• To identify how caring responsibilities can contribute to carers living in poverty 

• To look beyond income maximisation to effective ways to support people l poverty to live healthy, fulfilling lives
