I am currently practicing as an independent DoLS assessor working for a number of different LA's and also completing private CoP applications on behalf of ICO's. My work directly involves supporting service users through the DoLS and CoP/DoL processes, ensuring that their views are gained, and their voices heard. My role is to also inform families and ensure that they are aware of all the legalities related to the specific legal framework their relative is subject too. I am, at times, the last line of advocacy for others, and it is crucial that I am fully informed and aware of all legal factors that relate to the work that I complete.
