UK Forensic Mental Health Social Work (hospital and community) and criminal justice social work

A BASW England Criminal Justice Group Event

David Cochrane MBE is a Forensic Social Work Consultant at West London NHS Trust, having recently retired from the Head of Forensic Social Work role there, covering Broadmoor Hospital and West London Forensic Services. He is involved in an HEE funded Social Supervision Project, developing a Quality Framework and training materials to support the management of Conditionally Discharged patients. Additionally, he is working with the National Group of Social Work Managers in Secure Services and https://www.dcc-i.co.uk/index.html to finalise a Quality Framework for Social Work within medium and low secure settings.

The session will focus on how UK Forensic Mental Health Social Work (hospital and community) fits within criminal justice social work. David started off his career in London Probation and believes there is a lot Forensic Social Workers can learn from Probation/Criminal Justice/Criminology literature.

The event will be followed by the usual Criminal Justice group meeting.
