In this session we are joined by Ellie Barnett & Jo Jones where they’ll share their experiences, challenges, and what keeps them motivated in this vital field.
Ellie Barnett - Ellie, is a Social Worker with a long-standing commitment to supporting children, young people, and families with over 23 years experience of working with children and families in a variety of roles. Ellie completed a Master’s in Children and Adolescent Mental Health and her experience spans Early Intervention in Psychosis and, more recently, the Specialist Mother and Baby Team. Perinatal mental health has always been a passion for Ellie and she is motivated by the opportunity to advocating for mothers and families and to help parents feel supported, understood, and empowered.
Jo Jones – Jo is a Perinatal Social Worker within a Specialist Mother and Baby Service in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Prior to qualifying as a Social Worker, Jo spent 14 years working as a Community Nursery Nurse within the Health Visiting Service, and also worked for over three years as a Youth Worker in some of the most deprived areas of Bradford. These roles have been instrumental in developing her strong sense of social justice, integrity, and commitment to relationship-based practice. Jo has a genuine passion for perinatal work and am highly motivated to champion the role of perinatal social work, advocating for mothers, babies, and families during critical and formative stages of their lives.
