Call for social work voices on war in Ukraine
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has fast become the crisis of our age, one with repercussions that will impact on social work across Europe.
It has already created more than two million refugees and untold trauma among Ukrainian – and Russian - communities both in their homelands and beyond.
We want to give voice to social workers in the UK who may have links to the conflict, perhaps through family in Ukraine or Russia, or have contact with people affected.
Social workers will ultimately be among those on the ground working to heal divisions and support those affected by this human tragedy.
Some may already be working with people in the UK with links to Ukraine or Russia. Or they may just want to offer a social work perspective on the history-changing events unfolding.
If so we would like to hear your thoughts, feelings and reflections and will be happy to publish online.
What will be social work's role in the aftermath? How are you supporting people affected right now? How could the values, ethics and skills of social work make a difference to resolving the crisis?
There could be people you are currently working with affected by the war in Ukraine who would benefit from putting their thoughts down in words - we would be pleased to give them a platform.
