Consultant Social Worker (Race) CSW(R)
The British Association of Social Workers Cymru (BASW Cymru) is looking for an experienced social work practitioner who will act as a driver and catalyst for change for this newly created post of Consultant Social Worker (Race). Salary Scale F scale points o to iv (o £51,910 to iv £67,624). Full time, fixed term 18 months. Application deadline 10am on 30th September 2024

BASW Council is seeking applications for the position of Chair and Committee members for the Risk & Audit Committee. The Committee supports the Council in overseeing BASW’s strategy and performance, ensuring compliance with funding and regulatory bodies.
Chair
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to chair and lead out Risk & Audit Committee. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities and a deep understanding of governance and audit practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Chair and lead a committee
- Attend four 2.5 hour scheduled meetings per year, held virtually where possible
- Allocate additional time for agenda preparation and checking of minutes
- Report to Council for six meetings scheduled annually (virtually) for approximately 30 minutes
- Liaise with the Chair of the Finance & Organisational Development Committer, Administrative Team, and Executive Team or Finance as required.
- The position of Chair attracts an honorarium, currently £2150 per annum.
Committee Members
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Risk & Audit Committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend four 2.5 hour scheduled meetings per year, meetings will be held virtually wherever possible
- Allocate additional time for reading papers in preparation for meetings
- This is an unremunerated position but reasonable expenses for attendance will be paid in line with BASW’s Members Expenses Policy
Qualifications
- Individuals seeking an excellent CPD opportunity to develop skills, as full training and support will be provided
- Experience in audit, finance, law IT/data, or risk management
- Risk & Audit Committee experience in either the public or private sector

Experts by Experience Panel for Professional Social Work Magazine
Professional Social Work (PSW) magazine, the publication of the British Association of Social Workers, is looking for people with lived experience to join a new panel feeding into the work of the editorial board.
The editorial board meets three times a year to provide feedback and ideas to the editor of PSW.
The Expert by Experience Panel will meet for an hour one week before the editorial board meeting to discuss their ideas and comments from previous editions of the magazine.
One panel member will also attend the two-hour board meeting to present feedback from the panel to board members.
The panel will consist of around four members. Members of the panel will be paid at a rate of £20 an hour.
Panel members should have one or more of the following to apply for the role:
- Experience of social services
- Lived experience of physical or mental disability
- Experience as a carer
- Lived experience of discrimination, oppression and/or deprivation/poverty
