BASW NI submits evidence to Westminster welfare inquiry
Our evidence highlights clear linkages between growth in poverty and increased demand for social work services and notes the Northern Ireland Executive social security mitigation package has averted some of the most severe impacts of the Government’s Welfare Reform programme in Northern Ireland. The paper argues it is essential a new mitigation package is put in place to continue to provide support when the current arrangements end in March 2020, and that any new package also addresses the impacts caused by the introduction of Universal Credit.
The evidence has been published by the committees and can be accessed here.
