As an organisation it is our mission to promote positive change within our communities by strengthening connected relationships via our evidence based trauma informed training.
KCA work with local authorities, schools, healthcare professionals, social services, the criminal justice services and charities. Our evidence based research shows that a Trauma Informed approach can support practitioners to develop their understanding of trauma and to notice and build their own skills and capacity to respond to trauma driven needs.
Robust and globally accepted neuroscience research has underscored the profound impact of trauma on the developing brain. Adverse childhood experiences can significantly disrupt emotional regulation and interpersonal relationships, thereby increasing the risk of engagement in violent behaviours, alcohol or substance misuse as well as disruptive, anti-social behaviours. However our experience is that when adults who engage with young people work together from a trauma recovery informed perspective they increase their capacity to mitigate these risks and foster environments that promotes healing, resilience and pro-social behaviours.
