BASW statement on tragic death of social care professional
The British Association of Social Workers (BASW) would like to share its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of social care professional Belinda Rose, who was murdered Saturday 17th August, whilst on duty.
Belinda, 63, was stabbed during a visit to a home in Perry Bar, Birmingham, where she is reported to have provided supported living to residents.
“We, and our members, are deeply saddened to hear the awful news. Our thoughts are with Belinda’s family, friends and colleagues at this devastating time,” says BASW England national director, Maris Stratulis.
This dreadful tragedy illustrates the risks faced by care providing professionals every day.
Social workers share the same ethics as professionals across the social care and health sectors, and work together to promote fair and safe societies.
