BASW to strengthen backing for independent workers
BASW assistant chief executive Phil James re-affirmed the Association’s commitment to independent social work by announcing further investment in ISW members at their conference on Saturday.
Mr James said that ‘BASW Independents’ membership had grown to 900 members, since its launch in mid 2009. He added: “Independent social workers are right at the heart of what BASW does and make a critical and often under-played contribution to the profession.
“BASW is investing further energy and resources to ensure that the independent voice is heard and that these members’ needs are met. This is particularly important with the notion of a College of Social Work, which must support all quarters of the profession in order to be successful.”
