Pride in Practice: Call for Presentations from Social Workers
Pride in Practice: The 3rd Gathering for Children and Families Social Work
This two-day event provides an opportunity to celebrate front line social work practice in Children and Families Local Authority settings throughout Scotland. It allows practitioners to hear from each other about a more engaged way of working with children and families. It is organised by Social Work WITH Families, an initiative by a small group of Scottish Social Work practitioners whose vision is to strengthen pride and confidence in practice. It is being supported by CELCIS, SASW and SWS. The event will be held on the 17th and 18th of June 2020 at Strathclyde Business School, University of Strathclyde, 199 Cathedral Street, Glasgow, G4 0QU.
This is a Call for Presentations from front line social workers drawing on strengths based and solution focused approaches. We are interested in hearing from practitioners about creative and innovative ways of rising above procedural and statutory demands to ensure we do our best with families, returning to core social work values. We want to hear your amazing examples of what has worked well or what it was that allowed something to work better, hearing of all the different approaches taken to achieve the outcomes, no matter how big or how small.
In summary, we are looking for examples which:
- Place a strong emphasis on relationships
- Focus on collaboration/partnership and reduce power inequalities
- Build on strengths
- Demonstrate a strong value base
- Demonstrate true partnership of working with children, young people, families and carers.
This event will be of interest to social work practitioners, managers, learning and development officers and policy makers. Alongside the presentations from front line practitioners there will also be the opportunity to hear from national speakers, who will be invited from academia and other areas of interest. There will also be lots of opportunities for group discussion and networking with colleagues.
This event has received very positive feedback in previous years and we need you to allow this to continue. If you or your organisation are interested in doing a presentation please submit this form to Ailsa Sharkey no later than Friday 31st January 2020.
