Relationships – the power of kindness, humanity and love
As an international federation of social workers we want to make the world a better place, and as such we never forget that stories of change belong to ordinary people who have faced unimaginable trauma.
The horrors of the recent terrorist attacks of people at prayer in mosques in New Zealand have no place in our world, a world that is fundamentally built upon the values of decency, kindness and love.
Human relationships bind us together. They connect us as individuals and communities and acts of kindness, humanity, bravery and heroism cement and reinforce those relationships. Acts of kindness are often revealed following a terrorist attack or horrific disaster including Grenfell Tower fire and Hillsborough. Strangers helping each other in the most unimaginable events, fathers, mothers, sisters, grandparents, neighbours standing as shields in the face of danger to protect their loved ones.
Relationships are at the core of our being.
We stand united to promote our professional values as social workers. Values of social justice, equality, human rights, inclusivity and respect are forged as a foundation for our celebration of the rich diversity of communities of the world. We ask you to join us in that celebration.
