Robin Moulster, BASW Cymru national director has recently left the BASW team. We would like to pay tribute to Robin and thank him for all his work over the years at BASW
I would like to pay tribute to Robin Moulster who has recently finished working as a National Director with BASW Cymru. He held this post for over seven years. Robin was dedicated to his work within the organisation, having gained significant experience whilst working for many years as a Senior Principal Officer (Learning Disabilities) with Carmarthenshire County Council.
During his employment at BASW Cymru, Robin was dedicated to supporting members and increasing membership, influencing policy and legislation and highlighting issues for social workers around employment and practice. In an overarching role, he was involved with developing and maintaining key relationships with all stakeholders.
Over the years, Robin worked with nine committee Chairs and approached his work with enthusiasm and effectiveness. His passion was increasing membership and the annual Social Work awards which highlighted good practice and the innovative social work that was being undertaken across Wales.
Robin was the second country manager for BASW Cymru and was appointed in 2011. Prior to this, he was a chair and committee member of BASW Cymru for many years. During my time on the committee with Robin, I recall him to be resilient, dedicated and with a good sense of humour. He genuinely worked hard to further improve the credibility and membership of the organisation.
Robin moulded much of the foundations on which BASW Cymru stands today through his professionalism in support of the rights of service users and social workers. Robin had the skill to gather quality people around him, motivate them and generate real results for the organisation.
On a personal note, I wish Robin the very best for the future and needless to say it, was a pleasure working with him.
Thank-you Robin, you will be missed by all in BASW Cymru.

Chair BASW Cymru
It has been a real pleasure working with Robin here in Wales. It is fantastic that BASW Cymru works so closely with the Allied Health Professions such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy and we have all had the chance to work closely together on the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act and form strong professional working relations along the journey. Robin has been great fun to work with too – he has a fabulous sense of humour and we have enjoyed some great times. I will personally miss Robin a great deal but I send him all best wishes for his retirement.
