SASW to hold Scottish Parliamentary Exhibition in June
The SASW Team have secured sponsorship to hold an exhibition for MSPs in the Scottish Parliament in June. We are using the opportunity to showcase the reality of being a social worker and what an optimistic and healthy future for the profession could look like.
We're looking for volunteers to share their social work journey with us, by answering the following three questions: 1) Why did you become a social worker and what were your expectations? 2) What does your day actually look like? 3) What is your message to MSPs - what do you think the profession needs now and what do you hope for in the future?
The plan is to collate these as part of the exhibition, to give MSPs an insight into what it’s like to be a social worker and all of the challenges and positive things that come with it. The exhibition is a chance for us to debunk stereotypes, to raise awareness of some of the working conditions and wellbeing concerns facing the profession and to ignite thinking about how social work can be a more effective and healthier profession in the future.
If you're interested in getting involved, send an email answering the questions outlined above to scotland@basw.co.uk by 5pm on 21 April.
