BASW statement on Covid-19 vaccination and Omicron variant
BASW continues to encourage all its members to have the Covid-19 vaccine and any booster. Vaccination is the best way for social workers to protect themselves and the people that they're working with. We understand that some members may still have reservations but it remains BASW's view that the benefits of vaccination more than outweigh the risks.
BASW is concerned to hear about the problems with online booking systems for vaccines and Covid-19 tests. BASW urges the governments in the UK to address these issues and release whatever resources are needed to get the booking systems back on track.
We recognise the vital services that social workers provide and have continued to provide throughout the pandemic and the impact and pressure of additional uncertainty on social work and people’s wellbeing.
BASW will continue to monitor the situation - and to listen to the concerns of its members and of people with lived experience of care services.
We will continue to offer help and guidance and to speak up for the support that the profession needs.
