Embedding the Capabilities Statements for people with learning disabilities and autistic adults
Accompanying documents and resources: "Embedding the Capabilities Statements for people with learning disabilities and autistic adults" webinar
Part of BASW's Professional Practice Series of webinars. The last in a series of 3 webinars. Directly linked to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) project on embedding the capabilities statement.
The webinar will:
- Present the mapping documents and curriculum outlines for social work with autistic adults and people with learning disabilities which enable social workers to gain a specialist post-qualifying award
- Consider how we ensure that this level and approach to learning and attainment is recognised and valued as ‘specialist’ - over and beyond that required for initial qualification as social workers
- Describe and discuss the ‘blended model’ for post-graduate development which is a staged approach to skills development where practitioners use their practice experience, consolidated with theory and academic input, to develop their skills
About the speakers
Dr Phil Heslop (Northumbria University) and Dr Yo Dunn will talk about their work with autistic adults. Dr Hannah Morgan (Lancaster University) and Ali Gardner will discuss working with people with learning difficulties.
