UK Social Workers: Working Conditions and Wellbeing
A survey of 1600 social workers by Bath Spa University with BASW and the Social Workers Union (SWU) into the working conditions of social workers found 52% of UK social workers intend to leave the profession within 15 months. A total of 55% of those working in children’s services intend to leave social work.
The independent study by Dr Jermaine Ravalier also revealed UK social workers are working more than £600 million of unpaid overtime.
BASW and SWU launched the campaign for improved professional working conditions in response to these findings.
