BASW No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF): Statement and Guidance
Guidance aims to both explain the complexities of the NRPF status, gives BASW’s position and signpost social workers to practice issues.
Loss of income or accommodation can mean destitution for individuals and families who have No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF). The impact of Covid-19 has greatly increased the numbers of people with NRPF facing destitution – many people with NRPF work in the catering and hospitality industry, precisely those areas of the economy which are being hit hard by lay-offs, redundancy and reduced hours.
BASW has now published ‘NRPF: Statement and Guidance’ which aims to both explain the complexities of the NRPF status, gives BASW’s position and signpost social workers to practice issues.
NRPF is a complex legal area and can be subject to rapid change. We welcome corrections and updates for future revisions. Email policyadmin@basw.co.uk
