BASW interviews Sarah Champion on CSE, the media and Government failures in social care
BASW recently held an exclusive interview with Sarah Champion, MP for Rotherham.
Champion spoke at length about child sexual exploitation (CSE), the methods being used to prevent it, what has worked and what is still a work in progress. She also spoke frankly about where government funding and focus is lacking in certain areas of social care and the detrimental impact this is having on service users, as well as social workers.
Also, Champion didn’t shirk questions about her recent controversial comments on the ethnicities of preparators of CSE, saying her central message was “hijacked”, before explaining how her Dare2Care project is helping to educate children about abuse and challenge the normalisation of violence.
