Fire and Rehire: BASW/SWU team welcomes new ACAS guidance
Acas has published new advice to help employers maintain good employment relations and reach agreement with staff if they are thinking about making changes to their contracts.
The guidance from Acas is a welcome step towards recognising the power imbalance that can exist in Employee/Employer relationships.
All too often the BASW / SWU advice and representation team see consultations that signal and dismiss to reengage intent from the outset, which can render the proposed consultation meaningless.
We encourage all employers to enter into negotiation and meaningful consultation with staff, as this is more likely to produce the best outcomes for both employee and employer. We believe that the new guidance will be a useful tool in encouraging employers to take that approach.
