SASW member’s community driven song about shipping tragedy tops Amazon’s downloads chart
Silvio Gigante, a member of SASW and SWU executive, who produced a record for the family of the victims of the recent Nancy Glen fishing boat tragedy, has seen his song peak at the top of Amazon’s Movers and Shakers list over the weekend.
In January, the Nancy Glen fishing boat capsized on Loch Fyne in Argyll and Bute with three fishermen on board. One was pulled from the water but despite further rescue efforts the vessel sank and is believed to have taken the remaining fishermen – Prezemek Krewczyk and Duncan MacDougall – with it. It is presumed the two men died.
Mr Gigante lives in the same area in the West of Scotland and was moved to produce the record with local residents to support attempts to recover the bodies of the men and to raise money for their families in a show of solidarity.
“It is a great example of community social work in practice,” says SASW Country Manager, Trisha Hall.
The song is entitled ‘Bring our boys back home’ and is available to download on iTunes and Amazon, with all proceeds to go to the families of the bereaved. The song is available to listen to here https://youtu.be/LuVRBolKcCI.
