SASW submits evidence to MSPs on National Care Service proposals
Thank you to everyone who helped shape our response to MSPs on the National Care Service Bill.
Since June, we've run nine online engagement sessions and shared six surveys seeking feedback on the proposals. We've heard from lots of social workers from across the profession and engaged with various organisations.
This has been invaluable for shaping our response, which you can read here. We will be preparing a summary version shortly.
The Health, Social Care and Sport Committee will now commence their evidence sessions. This process will take a few months as they examine the Bill from all angles. We’ll also find out the timescale within which stage one should be completed and the committee publishes their report ahead of the debate and vote.
Our engagement won't stop. We must keep speaking to MSPs in preparation for when amendments can be proposed at stage two.
We'll keep you updated on developments through our bulletins and social media. Everything will be posted to our NCS hub. We also have Policy Panel and Cross-Party Group on Social Work meetings in September dedicated to the NCS Bill. Please let us know if you would like to be involved.
Please keep sharing your views with us. Our Policy Officer can be reached on jonny.adamson@basw.co.uk
