Scottish Social Services Awards
The awards took place at Glasgow Science Centre, scenically located on the river Clyde and were hosted by Scottish weather forecasting legend, STV’s Sean Batty.
The SSSAs are funded by the Scottish Government and organised by IRISS in Scotland. SASW were delighted to once again be supporting the Social Worker of the Year Award. This award aims to highlight excellence in practice and shine a light on the fantastic work social workers are doing across the country.
It was great to see Scottish Government Minister for Social Care and Mental Wellbeing, Maree Todd and Chief Social Work Adviser, Iona Colvin, both at the event. Iona recognised the pressures the sector is under but rightly pointed out that there is so much to celebrate.
We all know and feel the pressure the sector is under every day, and it is so important to be able to take a step back and celebrate some of the success stories from across social services.
Congratulations to all the finalists and winners on the night, we know that no social worker or social care worker joins their profession to be praised. But it has never been more important to shine a light on the brilliant work taking place across Scotland.
