Setting the Bar raised in parliament
SASW has worked closely with three MSPs to table a series of questions to Scottish Ministers based on findings from the Setting the Bar report.
The report highlighted the heavy toll experienced by social workers in Scotland just now; including unmanageable caseloads, little career progression or structured personal development, lack of involvement in early and preventative support, unpaid overtime and excessive paperwork. The full report can be found here.
Since these worrying findings were published last month, SASW as been proactively engaging with MSPs from across the political divide to brief them on the problems being identified by social workers and pressing for swift action.
As a result, a total of 13 questions have been submitted to the Scottish Government to demand answers for what steps Ministers are taking to improve working conditions for social workers.
SASW would like to thank Craig Hoy MSP, Jeremy Balfour MSP and Carol Mochan MSP for agreeing to table the questions and adding their support to our campaign. You can find the full list of questions here.
Responses are due by 28 July. If you would like to be kept informed of the responses, or SASW's work on this campaign more widely, please contact our Policy Officer on jonny.adamson@basw.co.uk
