Social workers needed to share experiences in media interviews
BASW is issuing an urgent call to frontline social workers or managers across the UK to share their experiences of the work they do in TV, radio and print interviews.
The Association is hoping that practitioners will come forward to publicise the work they do and challenge some of the inaccurate perceptions of the profession.
Highlighting examples of good practice and social work expertise, as well as the challenges social workers face on a daily basis, is vital to an ongoing process of informing the public and the media about the profession.
BASW is emphasising that in many instances the media is wiling to talk to social workers anonymously if people have concerns about speaking publicly. Equally, social workers might prefer to speak as a BASW member, representing the association, rather than their place of work.
You will be fully supported by BASW PR manager Sam Crisp in any media work. Please contact Sam directly for more information or to express an interest by emailing s.crisp@basw.co.uk or calling either 0121 622 3911 ext 139 or 07824 453 147.
