Take action: Tell your MP to ‘Protect Every Childhood’

Last week, BASW UK Chair Julia Ross, co-signed a letter to the Chancellor about the cost of living and the impact that it is having on children and their childhood. Read the full letter here.

The letter was coordinated by the Children’s Society who have also launched a tool which allows people to enter their name and address, and easily send a letter to their MP calling for them to take action and protect every childhood.

We encourage BASW members to use the campaign tool created by the Children’s Society and put pressure on MPs to do the right thing. Use the campaign tool to write to your MP now.

Soaring food and energy costs are placing a huge pressure on families. If the government abandons their commitment to ensure that benefits keep pace with inflation, thousands will be forced to the brink.

When parents are pushed into poverty, children are put at risk. Many more will be exposed to the dangers of hunger, unsafe living conditions and exploitation by criminals.

Recent events have shown that when there’s pressure, ministers will do the right thing.

We can’t let the cost-of-living crisis cost children their childhoods.

BASW UK will continue to campaign on the cost of living and urge the Government to sure those most in need are supported.
