UK Parliament calls for evidence on assisted dying

The UK Parliament Health and Social Care Committee has launched an inquiry into assisted dying and MPs are looking to hear what members of the public think.

The Committee has launched a public consultation into the law in England and Wales, which includes a questionnaire to make it easier for people to have their voices heard.

If you would like to contribute to the inquiry, you can respond to the questionnaire here. This should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete.

The inquiry will seek to understand multiple perspectives. At the end of the inquiry, the Committee will produce a report, containing recommendations for the UK Government. The UK Government usually responds to the Committee’s recommendations within two months and their response will be published.

BASW UK will also submit evidence on how any legislative duties may impact social work and social workers, particularly around mental capacity.
