World Social Work Day, 15 March - Stand Up for Social Work!
SASW is hosting the Social Work Awards for the 8th year on World Social Work Day, 15 March, supported by the Scottish Government. Ms Aileen Campbell MSP, the Minister for Children and Young People, who has the portfolio for social work, will once again present the winners with their trophies. We have been very pleased with the record number of nominations that we have received, and even more delighted with the clear evidence that social work as a profession is alive and well, and achieving such positive outcomes in terms of support and protection. On World Social Work Day we focus on the statement that: “societies thrive when the dignity and rights of all peoples are respected”.
The profession itself also commands that respect; we are a proud profession with a long legacy of good work done by committed people. We are therefore asking people to ‘Stand Up for Social Work’, by tweeting your support with a selfie using the hashtag #WSWD16 and ideally using the poster which you can download here with your own thoughts on why YOU are standing up for social work! Please tag us in @ScotsSW when you do so! If posting on Facebook please tag us on SASW Facebook. It would be great to see some innovative settings and pictures.
