BASW UK is aware of the impact that poverty has on the number of children needing statutory children’s social work intervention. The weekly uplift of £20 Universal Credit is a relatively small investment towards helping stabilise all low-income families in this time of ongoing economic crisis.
Chief Executive Dr Ruth Allen has written to the Department for Work and Pensions affirming BASW's support for the uplift, and Members of Parliament have received a briefing from BASW on the impact of poverty on children and families.
