Immigration Asylum and Trafficking Special Interest Group (IAT SIG)
BASW 's IAT SIG response to the Govt consultation on the New Plan for Immigration
The IAT SIG (the Immigration Asylum and Trafficking Special Interest Group) comprises of social workers with specialist knowledge, significant experience, and profound insights, relating to separated and accompanied migrant children and their families. As social work practitioners, managers, policy advisers, educators and academics in this field of practice, we believe we are well placed to provide an enhanced response to this consultation process, and write from a position of being well informed.
The SIG believes that there is a theme running through the NPI document that misunderstands and/or misrepresents the ethics, standards, roles and work of social work. This is explained and evidenced our response.
