BASW Cymru welcomes the First Minister’s announcement that social care workers in Wales will receive a £500 payment in recognition of the essential work undertaken by this “under-valued and overlooked” workforce.

BASW England with support from the Social Workers Union is calling on the UK Government to provide greater support for the social work workforce. It’s high time our profession is given the resources and respect it needs and deserves.

BASW is keen to understand both the needs of individual social workers from overseas and of the networks and support groups that already exist.

Today Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced that 900,000 public sector workers are to get an above inflation pay rise.
