ADASS Autumn Survey | BASW England Response
BASW England Vice-Chair, Jackie MahoneyAs demand increases and councils face unprecedented savings, the sector is on the brink.
The Survey is an annual survey conducted by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) which is sent to every Director of Adult Social Services (referred to as Directors in this report) in the 153 English councils with social care responsibilities. This year it had a response rate of 86%.
The findings highlight the growing and urgent challenges facing councils as they work to deliver vital care and support services amidst unprecedented financial pressures.
Responding, BASW England Vice-Chair Jackie Mahoney said:
"The startling data from the ADASS Autumn survey revealing that 81% of councils are set to overspend on adult social care reaffirms the urgent need for immediate government intervention.
"As demand increases and councils face unprecedented savings, the sector is on the brink. A prevention-first approach with sustainable investment is essential, alongside better access to allied professionals and integrated health and social care data.
BASW England urges the Government to ensure adequate funding and policy support to sustain social care services and meet growing community needs."
