BASW NI Committee Member Recruitment
An exciting opportunity has arisen for four BASW Northern Ireland member positions on the Northern Ireland National Standing Committee (NSC). We welcome applications from all parts of the sector including social workers in direct practice, specialist fields, managers, academics, practice educators, and those working in diverse settings. To maintain the diversity of our committee we would particularly welcome applications from social workers with experience of older people’s services, learning disability and those working in the 3rd sector.
The committee meets four times a year and this also counts as continual professional development to help maintain your registration. Meetings are held in person with the option to attend virtually if necessary. There is an expectation that committee members will be active and involved in the promotion of BASW NI beyond the four committee meetings.
This past year has been busy, challenging and successful in equal measure as BASW NI has worked hard to engage and represent its membership during Covid and shape the direction of the profession in the aftermath of the pandemic. The Association is currently involved in the ongoing review of children’s social work services led by Professor Ray Jones, the reform of adult social care and we are participating in the Department of Health’s workforce review. We are also continuing our campaign activity to reduce the bureaucratic burden on social workers, and ensure low income households are protected from the UK Government welfare reform agenda and the impacts of the cost-of-living crisis.
If you think that you could add to the team that makes a real difference to social work in Northern Ireland, then we want to hear from you. We are looking for members who are passionate about social work, committed to high standards of practice, able to demonstrate leadership skills and interested in shaping and influencing the future work of the BASW Northern Ireland Committee.
Those interested in being involved in the work of the BASW NI Committee are invited to apply by noon on Thursday 22 September 2022 and nominations will be posted on the Northern Ireland home page of the BASW website with a closing date for electronic voting of 10am on Monday 10 October 2022.
Candidates are initially elected for 2 years.
Travel expenses will be paid.
