BASW survey on government consultation on training to understand the needs of people with a learning disability and/or autism
The government wants to know how we can make sure that health and social care staff have the right training to understand the needs of people with a learning disability and/or autism – this consultation includes social workers.
They want to know what people think about proposals on:
- the planned content of the training
- how the training should be delivered
- how to involve people with a learning disability or autistic people in training
- how we can mandate, monitor and evaluate the impact of training
The consultation document is available here.
BASW England want to hear your views to develop to a collective response to the consultation – the questions are taken directly from the government consultation. Please feel free to only answer the questions you feel able and add any further comments to the final question.
The closing date for this survey is the 5th April 2019. The consultation response will be published on the BASW website.
BASW England have been funded by the Department of Health and Social Care to develop a Capabilities Statement and Continuous Professional Development Pathway for Social Work with Adults who have learning disabilities alongside a separate Capabilities Statement and Continuous Professional Development Pathway for Social Work with Adults who have autism.
