By agreeing to be included in the BASW Independents directory you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
I confirm the information I have provided is accurate and truthful. This is my individual listing and I have not named nor represented the work as my own of colleagues, associates, clients nor previous employers. Should any information provided within my listing change, I will update my Directory submission. I may unpublish my listing by logging in to Member Services of the BASW website. I understand that BASW reserves the right to edit and/ or unpublish my listing should I be in breach of the terms and conditions and/or concerns have been raised about my conduct.
I authorise BASW to publish the information I have provided to the BASW Independents Directory. The Directory is a public website and my details will be submitted to search engines and therefore made available for online searches. My details submitted to search engines will be indexed and may take weeks or months to be removed from search engine results should I elect to unpublish or change my listing.
My listing will be reviewed by an independent moderator who may use their discretion to edit and/or unpublish my listing.
As a BASW Independents member, I am bound by the BASW Code of Ethics and Code of Ethics Addendum: Additional guidance for Independent Social Workers. I have therefore only declared skills, type of work and professional expertise within my areas of competence to ensure my professional indemnity insurance remains valid.
I understand that to practice as a social worker within the UK, registration with the relevant regulatory body is required. I am also bound by the Terms & Conditions of membership.
All required fields within the Directory form must be completed with accurate information.
Managing conflicts of interest: Clients & employment
BASW Independents who also have employed arrangements are strongly advised to ensure that self-employed work is not in breach of any/ all employment contracts and fully compliant with all relevant staff handbook(s). It is recommended to seek agreement from your employer(s) in writing to practice independently from the appropriate position and department which may or may not be your line manager.
Employers, current clients nor previous clients may not be listed within the Directory. Further requirements on managing conflicts of interest may be found in The Code of Ethics for Social Work Addendum.
Data Protection and Confidentiality
BASW is committed to responsible data management and subscribes to the principals of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) in the United Kingdom.
Emails and listing information processed through the Directory are stored within a BASW server and will be subject to BASW’s Data Protection and privacy policies.
Changes to Services
BASW may, from time to time, vary the Services, and in doing so will provide, wherever possible, reasonable notice to you of any variations. Any such variation will be communicated to you via email.
Termination
BASW reserves the right, for any reason, to terminate your access to the Directory and will aim to provide you with 30 days written notice (and such communication shall be delivered by email).
Should your BASW membership and Independents Plus package not remain current, your Directory listing will be immediately deactivated.
BASW has the right to terminate your access to the Services at any time if there is a breach by you of these terms and conditions.
General
If any provision in these terms and conditions is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed deleted, but that shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the rest of the terms and conditions.
