BASW in the media: National review into the murders of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and Star Hobson
Last week the National Review into the murders of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and Star Hobson was published. BASW provided an initial comment.
BASW staff and representatives appeared on a range of media outlets following the release of the report, to make sure that the independent voice of social work was heard.
Our chief executive, Dr. Ruth Allen, was interviewed by BBC West Midlands Radio. Ruth highlighted issues in how professionals in different agencies worked together.
On the morning of the review's publication, BASW England’s Dr. Paul Shuttleworth appeared on Good Morning Britain.
”We need a big culture change, he said. ”We need the resources, the finding, the commitment from government - to make sure that when these systems are set up, they’re effective.”
We continued to represent our profession in the media throughout last week, addressing the issues raised in the National Review.
BASW UK chair, Gerry Nosowska, appeared on BBC News; BASW England Director Maris Stratulis spoke to ITV Central News; Dr. Ruth Allen was interviewed by Channel 5 News; and Dr Paul Shuttleworth appeared on BBC Politics North.
