Bridget Robb's statement to members
BASW membership continues to go from strength to strength now reaching our highest level of membership at 16,130, a rise of nearly 8% in the last year. The Social Workers Union (SWU) also saw membership rise to the current figure of 8,917.
BASW’s Chief Executive Bridget Robb said: “This is great news not only for the Association but for social workers across the UK. Our strength lies in our numbers and at a time of considerable pressure on both the profession and those we serve it is vital we continue to speak up for social work.
“Becoming a member of BASW also means joining a very unique fraternity of people who, despite all the challenges they face, are passionate about the work they do and the difference it makes.”
She added: “I would like to thank all the staff and members who together have made BASW what it is - a strong and growing membership organisation able to ensure that the contribution of social work is better understood and appreciated by the public and policy makers.”
