Direct Payments Training - Cymru
This training provides a comprehensive introduction to Direct Payments in Wales and their role in promoting choice, control, independence, and wellbeing. Participants will explore the legal framework, principles of co-production, person-centred practice and responsibilities associated with Direct Payments. Learners will examine eligibility, assessment processes, support planning, risk management, safeguarding, and employment responsibilities when managing personal assistants. The course develops practical skills to support individuals, carers, and families to make informed decisions and maximise opportunities for independent living. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to confidently apply Welsh legislation and best practice to Direct Payments delivery.

⭐ Trainer Bio -
Mandy-Jayne (MJ) Lace is a disability rights advocate, social work student, educator, entrepreneur, and founder of Accessibility Partners. A permanent wheelchair user with lived experience of disability, neurodiversity, chronic illness, and systemic barriers, she has dedicated her career to creating a more inclusive society through practical action, policy influence, and social innovation. MJ is the founder of Accessibility Partners and YELL SOS a charitable company, supporting thousands of disabled people to access employment, education, benefits, and independent living. Her work spans Access to Work, workplace inclusion, disability strategy, assistive technology, coaching, and social care. She is widely recognised for translating complex systems into accessible solutions that empower disabled people to thrive. Alongside running her businesses, MJ is completing her social work degree and serves within professional and human rights networks, including the British Association of Social Workers and the International Federation of Social Workers. She has received recognition for her leadership in disability inclusion and social impact. Known for her phrase, “Inclusion is the only foregone conclusion,” MJ combines professional expertise with lived experience to challenge inequality, influence policy, and champion a future where accessibility, dignity, and opportunity are available to everyone.
