The Future of Social Work in Scotland
As Scotland embarks on an ambitious programme of public service reform, social workers have an opportunity to rethink how the profession contributes to creating and sustaining stronger communities, reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for people across the country. Social work does not work in isolation. Changes on this scale beg questions which go far beyond the professional alone.
On 25 November, we are bringing together a panel of respected voices to explore the future of social work, please come and join us for an invigorating, inspiring discussion.
The event will take place at Base Bar in Glasgow and will begin with lunch from 1.30pm, providing an opportunity to meet panellists and attendees. The panel discussion will run from 2.00pm to 3.00pm, followed by audience questions and informal networking drinks
The discussion will consider how social work can lead and influence reform, the challenges facing the profession, and the changes required to build a sustainable, confident and impactful future workforce. We will be exploring:
๐ต What should social work's role be within a reformed public service landscape?
๐ต How can social work contribute to prevention, community wellbeing and improved outcomes?
๐ต What changes are needed to ensure the profession can flourish and meet future demands?
๐ต How do we strengthen the voice and influence of social work in shaping Scotland's future public services?
We look forward to welcoming you to this conversation - helping us move beyond current challenges to imagine what social work could and should be in Scotland over the coming decade.
