Understanding the Information Sharing Duty (ISD) and its Statutory Guidance | BASW England Children and Families Group

This session is hosted by the BASW England Children and Families Thematic group. We will be joined by Sheila Shuttlewood, who works within the DfE and is leading the implementation of the Information Sharing Duty. Sheila will provide an overview of the duty, which comes into force on 30 September 2026. Aimed at safeguarding organisations and their practitioners working with children, young people and their families, the session will explore what the changes mean and how the ISD and its statutory guidance are being applied in practice. There will also be an opportunity for discussion and questions at the end of the session.
