Domestic Abuse and Housing | BASW England North Yorkshire Branch Event

We are delighted to invite you to our next North Yorkshire BASW Branch meeting, where we will be joined by Jo Marriott, who will share her insights on the important and often complex relationship between domestic abuse and housing.

Jo brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from across housing, policing and support services. Having worked for 18 years within Local Authority services and 9 years with Leicestershire Police, she has developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families experiencing vulnerability, crisis and domestic abuse.

In her current role within North Yorkshire Council's Housing Service, Jo works to strengthen responses to domestic abuse and improve outcomes for victim/survivors. She is passionate about developing trauma-informed, person-centred approaches and plays an active role in a range of multi-agency initiatives, including the Council's Trauma-Informed Practice Project and safeguarding partnership work.

This promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking session, offering valuable insights for social workers and other professionals who support people affected by domestic abuse. As always, our BASW branch meeting is a welcoming space to learn, reflect, share experiences and connect with other professionals.

Whether you are an experienced social worker, a newly qualified social worker, or a student social worker beginning your professional journey, we would love you to join us. You do not need to be a BASW member to attend, and non-members are very welcome to join us as guests.
