Join BASW England for a special Hearing from Practice event with Colleen Simon, Head of Social Work, Social Care, Mental Capacity Act and Adult Safeguarding, as well as National Co-Chair of the Adult’s PSW Network & NHS Leads Network.

Colleen will share the story behind her career journey, the experiences that have shaped her leadership and insights from her current roles at the heart of social work, adult safeguarding and social care.

Looking ahead, Colleen will also explore her ambitions and plans for the future - offering a unique opportunity to hear her perspective on the opportunities, challenges and possibilities facing the profession. Come along to hear Colleen’s story, learn from her practice and leadership and be inspired by what the future of social work could look like.

Colleen is the Head of Social Work and Social Care for the Central & North West London Mental Health Trust and is National Co-Chair of the NHS Social Work Leads Networks. The bulk of Colleen’s professional experience is in mental health and substance misuse. She has been a practising social worker since 2003 in a variety of community mental health, criminal justice and substance use roles. Colleen is currently a lecturer practitioner on the Bournemouth Approved Mental Health Professional qualifying course; delivers training for Edge. Colleen is a passionate advocate for minoritised and disadvantaged communities, and her training focuses on mental health and anti-racist, anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practice.
