It is an exciting time to join BASW as we embark on an ambitious programme of transformation across all four UK nations that will reshape how the organisation operates, engages with its members and delivers value — with a clear focus on driving sustainable membership growth and creating an even stronger campaigning voice for social workers.
We champion social work and its values, helping our members to thrive in their career and practice and advocating for the profession and the people that social workers support.
We have an exciting opportunity in our Advice and Representation Service - which provides advice and representation to members through the range of employment and fitness to practise processes.
Are you a skilled social worker with employment law knowledge who has the confidence and experience to advise and represent members in employment processes?
Are you a confident practitioner who would thrive on representing members in the regulatory setting?
Do you have excellent communication, negotiation, advocacy and critical thinking skills?
Are you able to work at a fast pace, with complex, varied and interesting issues and problems?
Are you committed to advancing BASW’s mission to promote a thriving and well supported social work profession, working with colleagues across the UK to enhance our membership offer and professional campaigns that makes a positive difference to our members?
Applications must be submitted by email, no later than 9am 22nd October 2026 to sara.hickin@basw.co.uk. We do not accept CV’s.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview virtually and are currently scheduled for 4th November 2026.
We welcome applications from all minority backgrounds to join the team. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented in key roles across social work.
At BASW, we know that recruiting the best talent for the Association means accessing the widest possible pool of people. We anonymise application forms during shortlisting to ensure that applications are assessed without any consideration of applicant’s name, personal characteristics or cultural background. A Panel of people score each application against the demands of the role as detailed in the person specification.
