Did you know social workers qualify for the Blue Light Card?
Thousands of social workers are missing out on savings worth an average of £3,127 a year because they do not know they qualify for a Blue Light Card.
The scheme, which provides discounts on shopping, entertainment and travel, is normally associated with emergency services such as police and paramedics and NHS staff.
However, social workers and social care workers can also join at a cost of £4.99 for two years’ membership.
Promotors of the scheme are reaching out to social workers because they say many of them “simply don’t know they qualify”.
Joining Blue Light Card unlocks average discounts of 22 per cent across 15,00 brands, including restaurants, days out and concerts, as well as many high street shops.
A spokesperson for the scheme said: “It’s a bitter irony that those who dedicate their lives to supporting others might miss out on a simple benefit that supports them. If you're a social worker and haven’t signed up, now’s the time.
“You don’t want to miss out on having access to thousands of deals that could soften the blow of economic pressures and make your income go further.
“Blue Light Card isn’t just a discount scheme; it’s a way of saying thank you, supporting you in your everyday life, and helping you find respite and joy outside of work.”
