The Adoption Enquiry – A year on
A year since it launched, The role of the social worker in adoption – ethics and human rights: An Enquiry, a podcast to discuss its impact and ongoing relevance is now available via SoundCloud or ITunes.
The latest episode in BASW Talk’s podcast series saw freelance journalist Louise Tickle chair a panel discussion that included BASW chief executive Ruth Allen, the author’s co-author Professor Brid Featherstone and former local authority adoption team manager, Jon Dudley.
BASW chair Gerry Nosowska provides a conclusion and overview of where BASW will take the report next.
Background
The report, commonly abbreviated to The Adoption Enquiry, took a bold look at a particularly politicised and contentious area of public policy in recent years in the UK.
Political and ideological perspectives on adoption drive legal frameworks, policy, the culture of practice and the use of resources. It was against this backdrop that BASW commissioned the Adoption Enquiry in 2016.
More information on the findings and actions from the enquiry can be found in our News section.
