BASW and BIHR to hold session on Independent Human Rights Review
BASW has partnered with the British Institute for Human Rights to hold a session on the Independent Human Rights Review, which gives BASW members the opportunity to make their voices heard. This will help BIHR and BASW shape submissions to the review.
On 13th January 2021, following the Conservative party’s manifesto commitment to update the Human Rights Act, the Government’s Independent Review Panel published its consultation questions. This Review is looking at how the Human Rights Act (HRA) is working in practice and whether any change is needed.
Join this session led by the British Institute of Human Rights for people working in public service delivery or for an organisation who delivers a public service such as health, care or education. The session will support you to upskill yourself on our Human Rights Act and how it can be used as a practical framework for decision making in policy and practice.
Refreshing your knowledge of the Human Rights Act through real practice examples could also support you or your organisation to respond to the Review or to campaign more broadly to protect our HRA. During the session you can also share your experiences as professionals with BIHR which will help shape our response to the Review, protecting our human rights here at home.
The session is taking place on Wednesday 10th February at 10am.
