BASW C & F group backing calls for child abuse inquiry
BASW England Children & Families reference group is urging members to support a campaign to establish a national inquiry into organised abuse by contacting their local MP.
To date, the campaign has received cross-party support from more than 84 MPs. MPs Tom Watson, Tim Loughton, Simon Danczuk, Tessa Munt, John Hemming, Caroline Lucas and Zac Goldsmith have jointly written to Home Secretary Theresa May asking her to establish an Inquiry.
BASW professional officer Nushra Mansuri said: “It is deeply worrying that critical information related to allegations of child sexual abuse concerning prominent people has either been destroyed or gone missing and it is equally worrying that some investigations over the last thirty years have never been completed. This is totally unacceptable and a great injustice to the potential victims”.
Ian Pace, child abuse campaigner and academic, is collating responses on his website Desiring Progress. When you receive a reply from your MP, please let Ian know by emailing ian@ianpace.com so that he can add your MP to the list.
